A Disney Halloween!

I thought I would take a break from our overview of the Disney destinations and focus on the special offerings available for the Halloween season.  Disney does such a great job highlighting this time of year that it has become one of the most popular times to visit!  It's hard to believe, but the festivities start as early as August!  So now is the time to plan a trip to see some of the most festive and fun things Disney offers all year!

Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World goes all out for Halloween!
The Magic Kingdom is where you'll find most of the festivities.  Main Street USA and Liberty Square are decorated with pumpkin scarecrows, themed statues, carved pumpkins, and fall foliage.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is a separately ticketed event, allowing guests to enter the Magic Kingdom from 4pm- midnight.  In addition to experiencing all the park has to offer, guests are able to celebrate Halloween with a Disney twist!

Guests are able to come in costume and trick-or-treat through the park.  People get the opportunity to meet some of their favorite characters in fun costumes as well as some very rare characters!  Jack and Sally of Nightmare Before Christmas are always very popular. HalloWishes is a special fireworks spectacular that is only shown at the party. A dessert package is available and offers great seating for HalloWishes.  The Boo-to-you Halloween Parade features spooky music and a special appearance by the Headless Horseman!  The Hocus Pocus Villian Spelltacular is performed in front of Cinderella's Castle and is always a popular event!

New this year, Disney has created overlays for 3 popular rides: Mad Tea Party, Space Mountain, and Pirates of the Caribbean.  Another new experience will be the Disney Jr. dance party, located in Storybook Circus.

In Hollywood Studios, you can dine with Minnie and friends at Hollywood and Vine.  At Animal Kingdom, you can experience special Halloween crafts and activities at Rafiki's Planet Watch.  At Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, guests can watch The Legend of Sleepy Hollow before having an up-close encounter with The Headless Horseman.  Other resorts have special activities that will be listed in the Activities Guide throughout the season.

All of these experiences plus the amazing Halloween merchandise, treats, and decorations, make this one of the best times to visit Walt Disney World!

Disneyland Resort
Halloween at Disneyland Resort is a tremendously popular affair!  I'm happy to say that I will be visiting this Halloween and can't wait to see all the decorations, characters, and shows!  I may be most excited for the food, though!   Disneyland Park is heavily decorated with dark, spooky, and fun Halloween décor.  Jack and Sally make an appearance along with classic characters all decked out for the occasion!  The Haunted Mansion gets a thoroughly spooky overlay and becomes Haunted Mansion Holiday!  The Nightmare Before Christmas characters take over and add even more scares to this attraction.  Space Mountain turns into Ghost Galaxy,  a spooky version of the popular ride.  Main Street USA is features carved pumpkins, fall foliage, and some spooky extras! Similar to Walt Disney World's party, a separately ticketed Mickey's Halloween Party is offered.  The party features special Halloween Scream Fireworks, trick or treating, and a fun parade.  Villain's Square gives guests the opportunity to meet popular villains.
At Disney's California Adventure Park, you  walk right under Oogie Boogie as you enter the park.  Car's Land is so spectacularly themed for the occasion with Haul-O-Ween.  Bad puns aside, all of Radiator Springs is decorated with spare car parts to create a really amazing Halloween experience for adults and kids alike!  Luigi's Rollickin Roadsters becomes Luigi's Honkin' Haul-O-Ween while Mater's Junkyard Jamboree turns into Mater's Graveyard Jam-BOO-ree (alright, that's the last bad pun!) and both are incredibly themed and incredibly fun! Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark offers a chance to save Groot from monsters on the loose in this awesome ride overlay.

Disney Cruise Line

Halloween on the High Seas is Disney Cruise Line's specially themed holiday cruise.  Available on select sailings through the fall, this event is offered on all the Disney ships and promises to create  magical mischief on-board.  Mickey's Mouse-querade Party feature's trick-or-treating, dancing, games, and some favorite spooky characters.  There is an opportunity to engage in Halloween crafts and activities, like pumpkin-carving and mask-making.  An interactive screening of The Nightmare Before Christmas is available, and even offers a chance to meet Jack and Sally.  Campfire stories are sure to delight and spook on deck.  There is an adult's-only Halloween party that includes a costume contest!  The spooks and scares start as soon as you board, it's a great opportunity to have some not-so-scary fun for the holidays!

I just love Halloween!  I've gotten so many questions from clients about bookings, and they are filling up very quickly!  If you love all things spooky, contact me now to start planning your magical trip!  Happy Haunting!
